Pakistan, Aug. 21 -- A 6.7 magnitude earthquake struck Peru's southern Ayacucho region on Thursday, damaging buildings and disrupting electricity supplies. Local officials reported three deaths and several injuries following the powerful seismic event. The earthquake struck near the small settlement of Aniso in a relatively isolated area.
According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred around 1pm local time at a depth of 100 kilometres. Its epicentre was located about 31 kilometres northwest of Aniso. Meanwhile, authorities began assessing damage across affected communities following the strong tremor.
