Pakistan, June 6 -- A 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck Lahore and surrounding areas on Friday, causing tremors across parts of Punjab. The quake prompted concern among residents but no immediate reports of casualties or damage emerged. People in affected areas felt the shaking and briefly moved outdoors for safety.

According to the Seismological Centre, the earthquake measured 4.9 on the Richter scale. Officials said the quake originated at a depth of 18 kilometres below the surface. The relatively shallow depth contributed to the tremors being felt across a wider area.
