'Spider-Man, Sept. 8 -- Brand New Day' continues to rule the box office, holding the No. 1 position for six consecutive weeks and becoming only the second film this decade to achieve such a sustained run.

The Sony superhero blockbuster added $18 million over the weekend, pushing its worldwide box-office total to an astonishing $2.4 billion.

'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' comfortably led the weekend box office with $18 million, finishing nearly $5 million ahead of Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey'.

'The Odyssey' collected $13 million domestically to remain in second place, taking its global earnings to $1.63 billion. More than $1 billion of Nolan's blockbuster total has come from international markets.
