ARUSHA, Oct. 8 -- THE Speaker of the Tanzanian Parliament, Mussa Zungu, has called on member countries of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) to strengthen cooperation in promoting the health and well-being of women, children and young people as a means of advancing sustainable development.

Zungu made the call today, October 8, 2026, during a discussion on maternal and child health organised by the Government of Tanzania for IPU parliamentarians in Arusha.

He stressed that parliamentarians have an important role to play in enacting health-friendly legislation, overseeing the implementation of health programmes and ensuring that resources reach healthcare facilities and communities.
