Zanzibar commits to work with the World Bank in advancing education, health, energy, infrastructure sectors
ZANZIBAR, Aug. 19 -- ZANZIBAR President, Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, said his government will continue working with the World Bank to strengthen priority sectors, while calling for faster implementation of development projects so that citizens can benefit from them on time.
President Mwinyi made the remarks on August 19, 2026, when he met the World Bank Vice President for Eastern and Southern Africa, Dr Ndiame Diop, at State House in Zanzibar for discussions on development cooperation between the World Bank and the Zanzibar government.
Dr Diop was accompanied by Firas Raad, the World Bank Division Director responsible for Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
