Z'bar expands camera scope to curb accidents
ZANZIBAR, Aug. 12 -- ZANZIBAR has moved to enforce road discipline as President Hussein Ali Mwinyi announced plans to expand the use of surveillance cameras to detect traffic violations and curb road accidents.
Dr Mwinyi said the system was introduced following an increase in accidents linked to violations of traffic laws, road signs and safety rules. He made the remarks on Monday at State House in Zanzibar when he met the House of Representatives Committee for Oversight of National Leaders, led by its chairperson, Machano Othman Said.
The President said the initiative aims to strengthen compliance with traffic laws and ensure a safer environment for all road users, including motorists and pedestrians.
