DAR ES SALAAM, March 5 -- MORE than 700,000 substandard roofing sheets have been seized and removed from the market following a special nationwide inspection ordered by Prime Minister Dr Mwigulu Nchemba and executed under the supervision of the Minister for Industry and Trade, Judith Kapinga.

The directive was issued during the recent launch of Lodhia Roofing Factory and forms part of the governments broader strategy to ensure that all goods manufactured, imported and sold in the country comply with established national quality standards.

Addressing journalists in Dar es Salaam recently, Minister Kapinga confirmed that over 700,000 roofing sheets had already been withdrawn from circulation.
