Dar es Salaam, Feb. 10 -- MINISTER for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports Paul Makonda has said that securing the opportunity to host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) opening match requires solid strategies.

He said such strategies include sustained investment in stadium infrastructure. Makonda made the remarks yesterday during a press conference held shortly after inspecting the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, as Tanzania steps up preparations ahead of AFCON 2027.

The inspection tour, which focused on the progress of renovation works at the national arena, saw Makonda accompanied by Deputy Minister Hamis Mwinjuma, Permanent Secretary Gerson Msigwa and Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) president Wallace Karia.
