ARUSHA, Oct. 30 -- TANZANIA Official Seed Certification Institute (TOSCI) has stepped up efforts to ensure that seeds supplied to farmers meet the required quality standards through laboratory testing, certification and regular inspections of storage facilities.

TOSCI Acting Northern Zone Manager, Mr Erick Nangududa, said this today during a visit by National Agricultural Extension and Services Agency (NAESA) Chief Executive Officer, Dr Wilhelm Mafuru, to BAYER Life Science (T) Ltd seed warehouse in Arusha.

Mr Nangududa said the institute conducts thorough inspections and laboratory tests on both locally produced and imported seeds before approving them for sale.
