MANYONI, SINGIDA, Nov. 3 -- Mr John Mtaki, a teacher at Kintinku Secondary School in Manyoni District, Singida Region, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison after the court found him guilty of embezzling 3.5m/-.

The money had been withdrawn from the schools account and handed over to him in cash to manufacture school desks.

Criminal Case No. 14545/2026 was filed on June 26, 2026, in the Manyoni District Court against the teacher.

The accused was facing charges of embezzlement and misappropriation contrary to Section 28(1) of the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Act, Chapter 329 (Revised 2023), and theft by a public servant contrary to Section 270 of the Penal Code, Chapter 16 (Revised 2023).
