GENEVA, July 10 -- TANZANIA has won the prestigious World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2026 in recognition of its successful rollout of 758 telecommunications towers that have significantly expanded communication services to rural and previously unserved areas.

The award was received by Minister for Communication and Information Technology Angellah Jasmine Kairuki during the WSIS 2026 awards ceremony in Geneva, Switzerland, marking international recognition of the governments efforts in strengthening the countrys digital infrastructure.
