Tanzania signs 204.7bn/- solar power project to bolster renewable energy generation
SHINYANGA, July 28 -- TANZANIA has taken another major step towards expanding renewable energy generation after signing a 204.7bn/- contract for the second phase of the Kishapu Solar Power Project, which will add 100 megawatts (MW) to the national grid.
The agreement was signed today, July 27, 2026, between the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) and the project contractor, a consortium of Sagemcom Energy & Telecom SAS and STEG International Services, with Energy Minister Deogratius Ndejembi witnessing the event.
