DAR ES SALAAM, Oct. 1 -- Tanzania has recorded a notable drop in pump prices for petrol, diesel, and kerosene in the beginning of  October this year with retail petrol prices dropping by 55/- and diesel by 50/-, marking a continued downward trend in fuel prices.

A statement issued by the Director General of the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA), James Andilile, said that the decrease in prices is due to a 5.10 percent drop in foreign exchange conversion costs.

The Director General also said that the reduction of importation costs through the Dar es Salaam port is among the reasons for the prices to decline.
