NEW YORK, Sept. 26 -- TANZANIAN Vice President Dr Philip Mpango has reaffirmed Tanzanias commitment to global peace and urged urgent reforms within the United Nations to address the growing challenges to international security and development.

Addressing the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where he represented President Samia Suluhu Hassan, Dr Mpango condemned the resurgence of violations of international law and the use of force as a means to resolve conflicts. He said such practices have resulted in grave humanitarian crises, particularly affecting children, women, the elderly, and the sick in conflict zones.
