DAR ES SALAAM, Sept. 23 -- THE Minister for Industry and Trade, Judith Kapinga, has held talks with investors from SDIG, a company expected to implement the Mchuchuma coal and Liganga iron ore projects.

Minister Kapinga said the project is expected to officially commence in 2027 and will be implemented in six phases covering mining, production and infrastructure development.

She said the first phase will involve the development and operation of a coal mine, while the second phase will focus on the development of an iron ore mine.

According to Minister Kapinga, the third phase will involve the construction of a plant to produce specialised coal for iron smelting using coal as the energy source.
