KOROGWE, April 27 -- THE Tanzanian government has launched a 19bn/- urban infrastructure project in Korogwe Town, Tanga Region, targeting improved mobility, drainage and a stronger local economy.

Implemented through the Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency, the Tanzania Cities Transforming Infrastructure and Competitiveness (TACTIC) project will see the construction of 10.4 kilometres of tarmac roads alongside modern storm water drainage systems to ease flooding within the town centre.

Acting Korogwe Town Director, Burhan Ngulungu, said the project will channel rainwater safely to the Pangani River, addressing long-standing drainage challenges while opening up the town for business growth.
