GEITA, Aug. 26 -- THE State Mining Corporation (STAMICO) has provided 40m/- in funding to alternative charcoal producers in Geita Region as part of efforts to promote the use of clean cooking energy in Tanzania.

The Chairperson of the Women and Samia Foundation in Geita, Adelina Kabakama, made the announcement in the presence of leaders of the 2026 National Uhuru Torch Race, saying the funding would enable the foundation to work with STAMICO in the production and distribution of clean-energy charcoal.

Kabakama said the initiative was intended to support the implementation of the National Clean Cooking Energy Strategy 2024-2034, which aims to ensure that 80 per cent of Tanzanians use clean cooking energy by 2034.
