DAR ES SALAAM, Aug. 8 -- PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has announced government plans to expand the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) network to cover more parts of Dar es Salaam and extend services to neighbouring Coast Region as part of efforts to improve urban mobility.

Speaking during the inauguration of the BRT Phase II infrastructure on August 7, 2026, President Samia said the expansion programme will include new BRT corridors from Bunju to Bagamoyo, Mbagala to Mkuranga and Gongo la Mboto to Kisarawe.

She said the government will seek financial support from the African Development Bank (AfDB) and other development partners to facilitate the implementation of the planned infrastructure projects.
