ABUJA, Sept. 14 -- THE Sultan of Sokoto and Leader of the Muslim Ummah of Nigeria, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Saad Abubakar, CFR, mni, has expressed his condolences to the President of Tanzania, Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan, following the demise of her husband, Hafidh Ameir Hassan.

Hafidh Ameir Hassan, Tanzanias First Gentleman, reportedly died on Monday, September 7, 2026, while receiving medical treatment at the Emilio Mzena Memorial Hospital in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

The Sultans condolence followed the announcement of his death by Tanzanias Vice President, Deogratius Ndejembi, who disclosed that the former First Gentleman passed away at about 8:00 a.m. local time (6:00 a.m. GMT).
