KISWAHILI FOR BEGGINERS: The proverb "Aisifuye mvua imemnyea""
Dar es Salaam, Aug. 18 -- THIS proverb means you cannot deny or pretend that something did not happen to you when the evidence is obvious. In English, it is close to “You cant deny the obvious” or “You cant pretend youre not affected by something that has clearly happened to you.”
Aisifuye = he/she who does not admit or acknowledge
Mvua imemnyea = the rain has fallen on him/her
The idea is that if someone has been caught in the rain, their wet clothes clearly show that they have experienced the rain. They cannot convincingly deny it.
