ZANZIBAR, Jan. 1 -- THE Minister of State in the Presidents Office responsible for Regional Administration, Local Government and Special Departments, Mr Idrisa Kitwana Mustafa, has urged citizens to protect road infrastructure to support economic growth and development.

Speaking during the laying of foundation stone ceremony for the construction of Mahonda–Pangatupu–Bumbwini road, the minister said road construction plays a vital role in attracting development, creating jobs and easing transportation of agricultural produce.

The ceremony was held as part of the 62nd revolution anniversary celebrations. He said the expansion of road networks will enhance safety, reduce transport costs and stimulate economic activities.
