DODOMA, Aug. 15 -- As Tanzania aims to become the continents food basket, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has pledged unwavering support to help the country align with international policies and standards, positioning it as a competitive player in regional and global food markets.

FAOs National Project Coordinator, Mr Diomedes Kalisa, reaffirmed this commitment during the recent National Awareness Meeting on Food Safety, Codex information, and their relevance to the national economy, held in Dodoma recently.

He underscored the need for strong coordination to ensure Tanzanias alignment with the Codex Alimentarius.
