DAR ES SALAAM, Oct. 5 -- THE Port of Dar es Salaam has climbed 105 places in the 2025 Container Port Performance Index (CPPI), rising from 360th position in 2024 to 255th, signalling improved efficiency in handling container vessels.

The index, published by the World Bank in collaboration with S&P Global Market Intelligence, measures port performance based on the time container ships spend at ports, including waiting time and the time taken to serve vessels at berths. The improvement comes as global shipping continues to face disruptions affecting the movement of goods and maritime routes.
