COAST REGION, March 14 -- CARGO volumes between Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have more than doubled in recent years, rising from 2.95 million tonnes in 2021/22 to 5.995 million tonnes in 2024/25.
The surge highlights the growing transport cooperation between the two countries, with the DRC remaining a key partner for Tanzania in cargo movement through the Port of Dar es Salaam.
Minister for Transport, Prof Makame Mbarawa, revealed this during a signing ceremony in Kinshasa for the development and operation of the Kwala Dry Port in Tanzanias Coast Region.
