KONGWA, June 17 -- Residents across five districts in central Tanzania are expected to benefit from a more stable electricity supply following the completion of major infrastructure upgrades implemented by TANESCO at a cost of more than Sh10.5bn.

The projects, which cover Gairo, Mpwapwa, Kongwa, Chamwino, and Kiteto, include a switching station, a 20 MVA voltage regulation system, and a 92 kilometre 33 kV transmission line linking Zuzu and Mbande.

Energy Minister Deogratius Ndejembi inaugurated the facilities in Kongwa District, saying the investment is aimed at improving reliability and supporting economic activity in fast growing areas.
