KIBAHA, July 25 -- CONSTRUCTION of six kilometres of asphalt roads worth 954.58m/- is underway in Ikwiriri Township, Rufiji District, Coast Region, in a move expected to improve drainage, ease transport and keep roads passable throughout the year.

Rufiji District Executive Director, Mr Simon Berege, said the district has a road network spanning 523.51 kilometres, comprising 15.031 kilometres of asphalt roads, 117.254 kilometres of gravel roads and 391.229 kilometres of earth roads.

He said the six-kilometre project is funded by the government through the Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) and is being implemented by M/S Morcap Investment Company Limited.
