MOSHI, July 15 -- A 90-year-old retired American doctor, Art Ulene, has made history after successfully reaching the Uhuru Peak on Mount Kilimanjaro, becoming one of the oldest climbers to achieve the feat.

Dr Ulene reached the summit on Monday, July 13, 2026, fulfilling a personal dream and marking the milestone with a special birthday celebration at Africas highest peak.

According to information from the Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA), the old man was surrounded by guides, porters and fellow climbers where he cut a birthday cake at the summit as he celebrated his achievement and received congratulations for his determination and endurance at an advanced age.
