KIGOMA, Oct. 2 -- A total of 344 residents of Mgeo Street in Buhanda Ward in Kigoma region have accepted compensation and signed forms verifying their property details affected by the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) project.

The development follows a disclosure exercise attended by 346 residents out of 370 people whose properties were valued for the project.

Speaking today, October 2,2026, during the exercise, Senior Valuer from the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development, Mr Rashid Mageta, said 344 residents accepted their compensation packages, while only two rejected the amounts allocated to them.
