Sri Lanka, Sept. 22 -- A 23-year-old youth tragically drowned in a hotel swimming pool in the Kandawala area of Katana, police confirmed.

The victim, a resident of Maussakelle, Maskeliya, had been swimming with a group of friends at the time of the incident.

Preliminary investigations suggest he drowned while in the pool.

The Katana Police have launched further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
