Woman Arrested for Promising Foreign Jobs and Allegedly Taking Rs. 2 Million
Sri Lanka, June 27 -- A 41-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly swindling Rs. 2 million from an individual by falsely promising to arrange employment abroad.
The suspect was taken into custody by officers attached to the Horana Special Crime Investigation Unit during a raid conducted within the Alubomulla Police Division on Friday (26), following a probe into a complaint filed by the victim.
According to police, the Panadura resident had allegedly collected the money after assuring the complainant that she could facilitate overseas employment.
Investigations are continuing under the Horana Special Crime Investigation Unit.
