Widespread spending issues in Parliament in 2023, 2024
Sri Lanka, Aug. 24 -- A special audit report on the eighth and ninth sessions of the Parliament has uncovered widespread spending issues revealing that top officials, enjoyed unlimited fuel allocations while operating under regulations that haven't been updated in nearly seven decades.
Despite receiving an annual budget of around Rs.3,500 million to manage public finances, Parliament itself was found to be bypassing standard transparency controls.
