Sri Lanka, May 18 -- Western Province Governor Hanif Yusoof announced yesterday (17) that he has informed President Anura Kumara Dissanayake of his intention to resign from his position.

In an official statement, Yusoof said the decision was made after carefully considering the increasing challenges of balancing his duties as Governor with his responsibilities as the President's Special Representative for Foreign Direct Investment, in addition to his family commitments.

He also conveyed his gratitude to the President for the opportunity granted to him to serve the country in such an important capacity.

Yusoof clarified that he will continue to serve as Governor of the Western Province until a successor is appointed by the President.
