Sri Lanka, Aug. 7 -- Throughput at WCT-1 has already exceeded initial expectations, with volumes ramping steadily each month since April. Once fully scaled up, Phase 1 will add approximately 1.6 million TEUs of capacity to the port, positioning Colombo to capture surging regional container flows particularly to and from India, which handled some 20-25 million containers last year versus over 250 million in China .
