Sri Lanka, Feb. 18 -- Mass Media Deputy Minister Dr. Kaushalya Ariyarathna informed Parliament that the Government has taken steps to implement various welfare schemes for journalists this year.
The Deputy Minister made this statement while responding to questions raised by MP Dharmapriya Dissanayake during the oral question session in Parliament yesterday (17), regarding the problems faced by journalists.
"We have been receiving various complaints from private media companies.These include complaints about the closure of media institutions, non-payment of employees' provident funds, employees' trust funds and non-payment of salaries.
