Sri Lanka, Aug. 20 -- Steps were taken on September 19 to provide water to the wild animals of Yala National Park, which are struggling due to the severe drought affecting the Kataragama area in Monaragala district.

Following instructions from the Chairman of the Kataragama Shasanarakshaka Board, the Chief Sanghanayake of Ruhunu Magampattuwa, Kobawaka Dhamminda Thero, and the Chief Sanghanayakes of the four Maha Viharas, including Kirivehera Raja Maha Viharaya, distributed water from the temple's bowser to small ponds in the park that had dried up.
