Sri Lanka, May 8 -- Transport and Highways Deputy Minister Dr. Prasanna Gunasena informed Parliament yesterday (7) that printing of vehicle number plates will commence by June 10, 2026.

He said that presently there is a situation that has risen in the society where they are unsure about resumption of vehicle number plates issuance dates.

The Deputy Minister stated that therefore, the Government has gone for a new tender for this and a new tender has been offered to a new company and that this agreement has been signed on March 10, 2026 with the company to resume the printing of number plates. "As per the new agreement signed, the new company has the authority to commence printing of vehicle number plates within three months.
