Srilanka, Oct. 11 -- UNP Chairman and former Minister Vajira Abeywardena addressed the media yesterday (October 10), emphasizing the growing public demand for political unity in Sri Lanka.
"Over the past four to five months, the public has increasingly expressed the opinion that all political parties should come together. The opposition in Parliament has responded positively to this sentiment, which we see as a very encouraging development," Abeywardena said.
He added that the UNP's management and working committees will formally review and express their opinion on the matter. "Our position has already been clear - all political parties should unite. This was also reflected in the theme of our party's anniversary," he noted.
