Sri Lanka, Dec. 19 -- The Disaster Management Center (DMC), citing the Meteorological Department, reported that Ududumbara received the highest rainfall in the country over the past 24 hours ending at 6 a.m. today (19), with a total of 201 millimeters.

The second-highest rainfall was recorded in Ududumbara Poththapitiya at 155 millimeters.

As a precaution, 34 major tanks and reservoirs are being discharged across the country.

In the Anuradhapura district, water is being released from Kalawewa, Rajanganaya, Nachchaduwa, and Angamuwa reservoirs. In Kandy, the Polgolla, Victoria, Randenigala, and Rantambe reservoirs are also being discharged.
