Sri Lanka, Aug. 14 -- Two suspects were remanded in connection with an incident where employees at a shop in Peradeniya had allegedly attacked and killed a 67-year-old man, claiming that he had stolen chocolate.

The deceased has been identified as Dharmasena Cooray. Police investigations have revealed that this individual, a resident of Eriyagama, had earned his living by working as a hired hand. Police said that two people at the shop had allegedly beat the person with a stick and kicked him, claiming that he had stolen chocolate from the store, which sells chocolates and sweets. The person who was lying in front of the store had been taken to the hospital by a Suwaseriya ambulance and died while receiving treatment there.
