Sri Lanka, March 1 -- Two separate road accidents claimed the lives of two elderly pedestrians in the Pindeniya and Kesbewa police divisions.
In the first incident, a 63-year-old resident of Pothukoladeniya was struck by a tipper truck on the Wela Medakade bypass road, near the Apalathotuwa junction.
According to authorities, the victim sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.
The driver of the tipper truck has been taken into custody, and Pindeniya Police are conducting further investigations.
The second fatality occurred near the Mihindu Mawatha junction on the Colombo-Horana road.
A car traveling from Colombo toward Kesbewa struck a 66-year-old man from Madapatha.
