Sri Lanka, Sept. 11 -- Twenty passengers were injured when a bus veered off the Polonnaruwa-Habarana main road and plunged into a nearby canal near the Seventh Mile Post at Minneriya early yesterday (10).
The bus travelling from Ambagaswewa in Medirigiriya to Colombo, met with the accident at around 5.40 a.m. near the Seventh Mile Post in Minneriya.
Sixteen of the injured, including the bus driver, were admitted to the Polonnaruwa General Hospital, while four others were admitted to the Habarana Hospital for treatment, hospital sources said.
Most of the injured had sustained minor injuries, Minneriya Police OIC Chief Inspector Anusha Piyadasa said.
