Sri Lanka, Aug. 9 -- Any distinction, exclusion, or restriction based on sex or gender that has the purpose or effect of impairing or nullifying the recognition, enjoyment, or exercise of human rights and fundamental freedoms by women-regardless of their marital status and on the basis of equality between women and men-is considered discrimination against women. This holds true for all Sri Lankan women alike.
