Sri Lanka, Aug. 13 -- Trinity College Kandy broke a 38-year hoodoo to claim the Dialog Schools Rugby League crown, by obtaining 24 points- with eight wins in nine games in the A Division League with a solitary defeat at the hands of the Peterites by 20-22 in the season's final match at Pallekele on Sunday.

The Peterites, guided by veteran coach Sanath Martis, entered as underdogs but continued their supremacy over the Kandy school for the General Denis Perera Memorial Shield, retaining it for the ninth consecutive year since 2015. Their 22-20 triumph was built on a sharp, disciplined display across the park.
