Sri Lanka, June 1 -- Transport Ministry Secretary Professor Kapila Perera said his resignation was solely due to returning to university service, and was not influenced by the Supreme Court ruling or any other reason.
He explained that any university lecturer is required to return to university service in their final year without taking any leave. Having clarified this situation, he said he had requested permission from both the President and the Minister on several occasions to return to the university.
Perera made these remarks during the ceremony to mark the commencement of construction on the Rambukkana-Galagedara Expressway which was held under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
