Sri Lanka, June 22 -- Fourteen traders have been arrested in the Wattala - Hunupitiya and Enderamulla areas for violating consumer laws, including selling rice at inflated prices.

The Gampaha District Office of the Consumer Affairs Authority arrested the traders who are from the Wattala - Hunupitiya and Enderamulla areas.

The arrests were made during a raid on businesses on the 30th based on information the Gampaha District Office of the Consumer Affairs Authority received from consumers and via the 1977 hotline of the head office.

The traders have been released on bail, and prosecutions are scheduled in the Mahara Magistrate's Court on a future date.
