Under the provisions of the Inland Revenue (Amendment) Act of 2026, the Commissioner General is authorized to issue these certificates to any individual or entity holding a TIN to ensure a streamlined tax registration process.
Commissioner General of Inland Revenue, Rukdevi Fernando, confirmed that specified officials-including bank managers, land registrars, and divisional secretaries-are now legally required to verify the TIN certificate before providing services.
