Sri Lanka, Sept. 15 -- The Polonnaruwa High Courts which heard a case related to the death of a hotel manager due to Police assault during a raid in 2004, sentenced three Police officers who were then in the Polonnaruwa Divisional Anti-Corruption Unit to seven years of rigorous imprisonment on Friday.
In addition to the prison sentence, Court has also imposed a fine of Rs.15,000 each on the three individuals and if the fine is not paid, a sentence of one year of imprisonment with light labour has also been imposed.
The then Polonnaruwa Divisional Anti-Corruption Unit OIC had also been charged, but he had died by the time the verdict was announced.
