Sri Lanka, June 9 -- Three people who were hospitalised with injuries following a fire at a restaurant near Thalawathugoda Junction this morning (09) have died while receiving treatment, police said.

The fire broke out during the morning hours and was brought under control by firefighters from the Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte Municipal Council using three fire engines.

Preliminary investigations suggest the blaze may have been caused by a gas leak, although the exact cause has not yet been determined.

Thalangama Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
