SriLanka, Sept. 25 -- Two years after the National People's Power (NPP) came to power promising a fundamental break with Sri Lanka's political past, the government faces the unavoidable moment of accountability on it's promise of system change and explain what has changes, what has worked, what has failed, and what remains unfinished.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the NPP entered office in September 2024 with strong political mandate, followed by a two-thirds parliamentary majority. The central promise was not simply to change governments but to change the way government works with especial focus on ending corruption, political privilege and nepotism while rebuilding the economy and strengthening democracy.
