Sri Lanka, Aug. 21 -- Sri Lanka's total tax revenue collection has surpassed Rs.1,316 billion so far as the revenue collection agencies have managed to over achieve their targets, Economic Development Deputy Minister Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando told Parliament yesterday.

He said this is a significant milestone in the country's fiscal performance. These goals were achieved not by imposing additional taxes but by making tax collection more efficient. He said that improved tax collection mechanisms, tighter enforcement of penalties, and streamlined administrative processes have contributed for these results.

"If the outflows reach that level then our revenue targets would be completed," he said.
